Produce Report: Persimmons, Pears and more Perfect Fall Produce

Hello all and Happy Monday! We are starting the week off right with some awesome produce! Pears, persimmons, squash, potatoes, and kale top our list of favorites this week. Take a look!

Pretty pumpkin colored Chojuro Pears

Delicious and ready to eat, grab one of these pears on your way out in the morning for a healthy start! They’re sweet, crisp and the perfect snack!

Acorn Squash

Autumn has arrived when Acorn squash is in our bins. Acorn squash are wonderfully easy to prepare – just cut them in half, scoop out the seeds, add a little brown sugar and/or maple syrup, and bake for a little over an hour

Russian banana fingerling potatoes

They have a firmer texture and are an excellent base in potato salad. Fingerling potatoes are not grown for quantity or size, thus resulting in the best potato found. They are more flavorful and add a wonderfully special touch to any meal. Russian Bananas are one of the most popular of the fingerlings and are a guaranteed seller.

Dark Green Lacinato Kale

Healthy and hearty, kale is amazing cooked alone, in soups, in casseroles, or raw in a salad! It is also very nutritious. One cup of kale contains 36 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 15% of the daily requirement of calcium and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), 40% of magnesium, 180% of vitamin A, 200% of vitamin C, and 1,020% of vitamin K. It is also a good source of minerals copper, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus.

Lovely Fuyu Persimmons

Fuyu persimmons, unlike other persimmons, are eaten much like apples. Peel them, slice them, eat them. They are fabulous!
