Produce Report: Labor of Love…Produce Love!

Hello all and Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone had a long and restful Labor Day weekend. There’s nothing better than slow food, cared for without preservatives and added chemicals. It’s the hard labor of mother nature that makes our produce so awesome each week. 🙂

And this week is no different! We’ve got some pretty outstanding produce.

A fan favorite, the pluots are back and absolutely delicious! Sweet and tasty, these are an excellent snack on the go!.

Red, plump and ready to eat, this week’s tomatoes are from our neighbors in Oregon. Slice them up with a little salt and pepper for a nutritious and yummy afternoon bite.

One of my favorite this week is the purple cabbage. Cabbage can be bitter and hard to chew. Chop thin slices and sautee with onions and garlic for a quick and savory side dish.

Very similar to cabbage, but a bit more versatile is rainbow chard. Amazing cooked or chopped raw in salads, just always remember to keep those stalks. They are great for pickling!

We’re also featuring banana peppers this week! Not quite as spicy as other peppers in its family, the banana pepper is mild and sweet to the taste. This makes it a great addition to many meals without overpowering the dish. Be sure to tune in next week when we focus solely on the saucy pepper!
